We are seeking a mechanical-focused Testing Engineer for our exciting nuclear energy client located in the Greater Seattle Area. The Test Engineer will work as part of a team of engineers and technicians to complete the testing activities for nuclear reactors.
- You will responsible for reviewing test requirements, designing a test, executing the test, and writing the report.
- Work closely with internal and external customers to ensure the testing meets requirements.
- Assist in the drafting of test requirements
- Author the test design documents, test procedures, test report, and supporting documents
- Collaborate with internal customers to translate conceptual requirements into actionable test specifications, including design input, instrumentation strategy, and success criteria.
- Define, select, and validate measurement instrumentation including force, displacement, strain, and temperature sensors (e.g., load cells, LVDTs, encoders, RTDs, etc.).
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts including fixture design, control system integration, and lab space planning, leveraging technicians, designers, and facility personnel as needed.
- Manage test campaigns from concept through execution and reporting, including test setup, system validation, and post-test analysis.
- Under the guidance of Senior Test Engineers, support the coordination of testing activities for setup and commissioning of experimental equipment.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in a testing / research and development environment
- Testing and supporting large complex mechanical systems
- Experience with post-processing and documenting experiments
- Experience with multiple types of testing (R&D, Acceptance, Validation, Qualification)
- Experience working with strain, vibration, linear motion, static loading, dynamic loading preferred
- Practical understanding of mechanical testing concepts such as force/displacement application, structural deflection, dynamic loading, vibration/impact, and environmental exposure.
- Awareness of common dimensional/inspection tools and motion capture technologies (e.g., Faro trackers, CMMs), even if not directly operating them.
- Ability to operate within a lightly structured environment where test development requires a mix of standards-based guidance and first-principles problem solving.
- Familiarity with engineering tools such as LabVIEW, Solid Works, Jira/Confluence, and the Microsoft Office 365 suite is preferred.
