Senior Engineer; Chicago, IL

Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service‑Disabled Veteran‑Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida, USA, with a technical support center in Southeast Asia and East Africa. PMG provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide, supporting the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) and other federal agencies.

We are looking for a licensed professional engineer to lead the design and construction oversight for the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center (VAMC) in Chicago, IL, as part of the Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) Infrastructure Upgrade project. The role is a Senior Engineer responsible for ensuring construction activities comply with VA standards, federal and state codes, and project requirements, while supporting quality assurance, cost control, and schedule management.

Project duration: one year plus two option years. The position is contingent upon the award of the contract, with contract proposal submission due January 20, 2026.

• Review and interpret construction contract documents, drawings, and specifications.
• Perform constructability reviews and assess impacts on hospital operations.
• Monitor project schedules, budgets, and change orders; provide recommendations to the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR).
• Conduct inspections for quality, safety, and contract compliance.
• Provide guidance on design modifications, value engineering, and long‑lead items.
• Attend weekly/monthly progress meetings and prepare project status reports.
• Supervise and coordinate multidisciplinary personnel as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Must be a Professional Engineer (PE).
• Minimum ten years of combined design and construction experience in active medical facilities.
• Experience with VA Design Manuals, Specifications, and Technical Instructions List (TIL).
• Knowledge of construction contract documents, building codes, budgeting, and scheduling.
• Proven ability to supervise and manage personnel across disciplines.
