Position SummaryF5 sits between the Internet and some of the largest companies on Earth, keeping their applications running fast, safe, and efficiently. The Drivers’ team needs a seasoned engineer well-versed in testing network drivers for a scalable, distributed, carrier‑grade software solution. This team owns the low‑level network drivers that support high‑performance packet processing in the BIG‑IP’s data‑plane, a flagship Application Delivery Controller that can run inside a virtual machine or in a customer’s native Kubernetes deployment.
The drivers support a range of para‑virtualized interfaces, SR‑IOV virtual functions, and F5’s FPGAs.
- Design and implement test automations for network drivers.
- Evaluate network driver features and performance.
- Set up and maintain hardware resources used for CI/CD pipeline automation.
- Document software designs via functional specifications and other design documents.
- Conduct presentations internally and externally.
- Participate in hiring and onboarding processes.
- Collaborate with team members and technical leads.
- Uphold F5's Business Code of Ethics.
- Test development experience using Python or Bash.
- Prior work experience with C programming.
- 3+ years of test or programming experience.
- Experience and knowledge of networking protocols, architecture, and technologies.
- Excellent analytic, troubleshooting, and debugging skills.
- Ability to manage ambiguity in work.
- Ability to present ideas verbally and in‑writing with clarity and precision.
- Well‑versed in containerization solutions (e.g., Kubernetes).
- Well‑versed in microservices architecture.
- Experience with Ansible and/or Terraform.
- Experience with Git Lab and/or similar repository solutions.
Typically requires a minimum of 3+ years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 2–3 years and a master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.
