Manufacturing Systems Engineer
The Lumber Manufactory (TLM) is building the sustainable future of the lumber industry with next‑generation sawmill technology.
OverviewWe are seeking a technically skilled and proactive Systems Engineer to support the design, integration, qualification, commissioning, and continuous improvement of TLM’s next‑generation sawmills.
Key Responsibilities- Design, implement, and improve engineered physical systems to support sawmill machine centers and associated processes.
- Qualify and commission through testing and validation processes, and prepare documentation to ensure the facility operates according to TLM specifications.
- Coordinate solutions with internal and cross‑functional partners to confirm design intent, implementation strategy, and maintain alignment through delivery of sawmill systems and related projects.
- Develop and maintain documentation for system architecture, wiring diagrams, PLC programs, and maintenance procedures.
- Innovate and continuously improve system design and operational workflows to optimize sawmill systems, material flow, process design, site layout, and related documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in systems engineering or industrial automation, preferably in a sawmill or heavy manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing and industrial automation, material handling systems, electromechanical hardware, sensors, actuators, and motor controls.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to translate technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work as part of a cross‑functional team.
Frequent travel is required. Candidates must be prepared to travel regularly and as needed to sawmill locations.
CompensationBase salary starts at $115,000. Compensation and benefits include comprehensive health coverage, life insurance, and flexible time off.
