Marine Structural Engineer - Senior Level

Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively seeking a Marine Structural Engineer with 10 to 15 years of experience to join our Seattle, Federal Way, or Vancouver, WA offices. This position will include management, supervision and training of junior structural engineering staff and will be responsible to lead engineering, planning, design, and analysis activities for waterfront, port and maritime infrastructure projects.

• Lead and manage projects, including cost estimates, budgets, scheduling and documentation preparation, support and evaluation
• Recommend contracting strategies
• Construction support
• Resolve design problems that may include performing field investigation or inspection
• Design detailed plans and structural analysis
• Perform finite element static and dynamic structural modeling of structures
• Prepare design concepts, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates
• Calculates quantity estimates
• Coordinate plan details with drafting technicians
• Prepares inspection reports as needed
• Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects
• Oversee work of CAD designers, technicians and other engineer’s work
• Mentoring of staff

• Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering; required
• Master’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; required
• PE registration; required
  • SE registration or ability to obtain SE; preferred
• 10 to 15 years of related waterfront structural experience in engineering design and project management; required
• Proven ability to implement and manage both small and large scale projects
• Proven success in leading people and managing resources
• Strong communication (verbal, written and presentation) skills
• Experience in developing and maintaining client relationships
• Must be willing and able to travel for projects
• Possession of or eligibility to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)
• Academy of Coastal, Ocean, Port & Navigation Engineers (ACOPNE) certification in the Port Engineering category is preferred
