St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School, in Tacoma, WA is a Preschool-8th grade parochial school. We are seeking a full‑time kindergarten teacher for the school year. St. Charles is a triple‑graded classroom school where teachers work closely together to collaborate and plan. This position will teach one self‑contained kindergarten class and requires a current Washington State Teacher Certificate, strong knowledge of early childhood development, and a practicing Catholic.
Responsibilities& Qualifications
- A passion for subject content material and the skills required to guide students in developing conceptual understanding of the language arts and social studies material that is aligned with the Common Core State Standards and Archdiocese of Seattle religion standards
- Experience with CKLA Amplify and HMH GoMath is preferred
- Utilize guided reading to meet individual reading goals
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of kindergarten children
- Demonstrate strong classroom management skills
- Experience with differentiated instruction in a mixed‑ability classroom
- Clear and consistent communication with parents/families
- Knowledgeable with current technology – Google experience is a plus
- Work collaboratively with staff members
- Engage in ongoing professional development
- Other duties as assigned
