AM Preschool Teacher – Part-Time (Feb-June 2026)
Pay: $20.00–$28.00 per hour (DOE)
Schedule: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Location: Kids Discovery Museum (Ki Di Mu ) – Bainbridge Island, WA
About Ki Di Mu Kids Discovery Museum (Ki Di Mu ) is an award-winning children’s museum where curiosity leads the way—truly the coolest classroom in Kitsap County. Our preschool program is inquiry-based, play-centered, and neurodiversity-affirming, offering young learners the freedom to explore, experiment, and discover through hands-on STEAM experiences.
As Ki Di Mu expands its early learning programs, we are growing our teaching team to support joyful, developmentally appropriate learning in a unique museum environment.
Position SummaryThe Montessori Preschool Teacher leads, facilitates, and supports our morning preschool program with a calm, intentional approach that emphasizes independence, purposeful work, and child-led exploration. This role is ideal for an educator with Montessori-aligned or Montessori-informed experience who loves thoughtful mornings and nurturing young learners’ curiosity.
Primary Responsibilities- Lead the AM Preschool program on a daily basis
- Design and implement sensory-rich, inquiry-based learning rooted in play, STEAM, and Washington State early learning standards
- Integrate hands-on exploration, art, movement, music, and storytelling
- Observe and document children’s interests and developmental progress
- Provide active supervision during activities, transitions, and free play
- Create inclusive, developmentally appropriate learning spaces
- Foster independence, empathy, creativity, and problem-solving
- Support social-emotional development using positive, relationship-based guidance
- Build trusting relationships with families and colleagues
- Share classroom updates and documentation using Brightwheel
- Support classroom organization, supplies, and daily routines
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience working with preschool-aged children in play-based or inquiry-driven environments
- Strong understanding of child development
- WA State ECE Certificate
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Successful background and reference checks
Preferred
- Montessori training or Montessori-informed teaching experience
- Experience in neurodiversity-affirming or trauma-informed settings
- Multilingual skills (Spanish, Portuguese, French, or Italian a plus)
- Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
- Ability to engage in active play, standing, bending, and movement
- Comfort working in a dynamic museum environment
- Ability to work alongside service animals
- Compensation: $20–$28/hour DOE
