TRAC Instructor [Industries Manager 3] - Reentry – Washington Corrections Center for Women, Gig Harbor, WA. IM3 Salary Range: $7,170 - $9,145. This position is exempt from Washington State Civil Service rules. The TRAC Instructor serves as the program specialist for the Trades Related Apprenticeship Coaching (TRAC) and is responsible for coordinating program-related activities or instruction at women’s prisons statewide. The working schedule is Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m.

The Reentry Division provides focused opportunities for success and supports the Department of Corrections (DOC) mission of improving public safety by positively changing lives while providing individuals with the programming, tools, and resources needed to successfully transition back into the community.
The TRAC Instructor works to develop and increase the sponsor base of registered apprenticeship programs and partners with the Washington State Building and Construction Trades Council and community organizations in the construction-trades field. The TRAC Instructor maintains and develops the curriculum, ensuring that the course is relevant and meets the needs as a Washington State registered preparatory program for the Laborers, Carpenters, Ironworkers, Cement Masons, and other apprenticeship programs.

Responsibilities- Provide instruction for the Trades Related Apprenticeship Coaching (TRAC) program in accordance with industry standards for Laborers, Iron Workers, Carpenters, and Cement Masons.
- Instruct the curriculum and hold participants and Classroom Assistants accountable to standards established in conjunction with relevant union preparatory guidelines.
- Document and report on the TRAC graduates upon completion.
- Conduct mid-program reviews to monitor and evaluate program participants’ progress.
- Coordinate workforce development activities to complete job readiness packets, employment plans, and connections to post-release employment.
- Document and provide feedback on performance and behavior.
- Maintain discipline, security and safety of all incarcerated individuals assigned to the program in accordance with all DOC policies and local operational memorandums.
- Account for program participants.
- Execute and maintain tool control processes according to DOC policy.
- Account for and document the perpetual inventory of consumables.
- Maintain and develop the curriculum in collaboration with Construction Trades Manager and WCCW TRAC Instructor to ensure relevance for Washington State registered preparatory programs for Laborers, Carpenters, Ironworkers, Cement Masons Unions and other apprenticeship programs.
- 2 years’ experience as an instructor in a trades-related community college or Trades-related vocational school recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the CHEA.
- OR 2 years’ experience as a Journeyman Tradesperson in a construction-related field.
- OR 2 years’ experience as a preparatory apprenticeship instructor for a WA State registered pre-apprenticeship program.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Expert level verbal and written communication skills.
- At least two (2) years working with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Knowledge of working with the incarcerated female population, including trauma-informed care.
- Career & Technical Education (CTE) instruction experience.
- Experience in a correctional setting with knowledge of the correctional environment and culture.
- Proven connections and network with trades partners across the state.
- Reentry and transition support experience with incarcerated individuals releasing to the community.
- Experience with equipment inventory, tool control, and security.
