Position Overview
St. Alphonsus School is seeking a full‑time Preschool Lead Teacher for the 25‑26 school year, effective immediately. The Lead Teacher provides daily instruction with an assistant and is committed to nurturing children's social, spiritual, and academic development while modeling professionalism, flexibility, and a team‑first mindset.

Instructional time Monday‑Friday 8:15 am‑3:05 pm (2:05 pm on Wednesdays). Teacher expected to be in classroom 30 min before arrival and 30 min after departure.
Qualifications- At least 3 years of successful preschool teaching experience (preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in Education (or related field) with focus on ECE
- Practicing Catholic (preferred)
- Comprehensive knowledge of Washington State Department of Early Learning Child Care licensing regulations and guidelines
- Exhibit strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Demonstrate creativity and vision to refine and strengthen an early learning program
- Meet minimum training requirements (STARS/MERIT)
Teacher must possess a belief in the mission of Catholic education and a desire to share the joy of faith with students. This commitment is best sustained when teachers have an active prayer life and participate regularly within a worship community.
Essential Job Functions- Establish firm, fair, and consistent classroom expectations and routines
- Supervise and collaborate with a classroom aide to meet preschool goals
- Promote a community of warmth, accountability, and virtue‑building
- Communicate actively and professionally with families through conferences, newsletters, informal conversations, and home learning tasks
- Ensure the learning environment is clean, organized, well‑supplied, and safe
- Implement best practices in instruction and assessment for early childhood education
- Monitor and document students' developmental and academic progress
- Plan daily lessons, units, and learning goals that build toward kindergarten readiness
- Share the beauty of language and the wonder of story with students
- Create cross‑curricular connections and integrate art, music, movement, play, and rhymes
- Collaborate with colleagues and integrate preschool into broader school life
- Maintain compliance with all licensing rules and maintain accurate records
- Physically able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry children or classroom equipment
- Demonstrate a calm, consistent demeanor when working with young children, families, and colleagues
- Exhibit reliability, follow‑through, and commitment to daily responsibilities and long‑term goals
- Demonstrate a steady temperament in high‑energy, fast‑paced classroom settings
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters with care and integrity

The range for this position is $45,000–$79,200. Salary will be determined based on internal equity, market data, and candidate experience and credentials. A comprehensive benefits package is offered: two medical plan options, dental, vision, life, accidental death & disability, long‑term disability, pension, 403(b), HSA, FSA, generous sick leave, vacation, and holidays. For teachers in their first five years, affordable housing options may be available.
