Opportunity Description

Seattle Central College is looking to hire a Temporary Associate Director in Basic & Transitional Studies.

Salary Range

$70,488 to $97,340 annually (depending on experience).

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Dean of Basic and Transitional Studies, the Temporary Associate Director will provide support to faculty and students; lead grant efforts, related data projects and assessment; manage new student orientation; manage off‑site ESL and ABE classes; and support the HS+ program. The role supervises the Reporting and Assessment Coordinator, Tutoring Program Coordinator (0.5 FTE), Tutoring and Technology Specialist, Student Specialist for ABE/GED/HS+, and Program Coordinator.

The position is full‑time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with occasional evenings or weekends as needed, and is 100 % on‑site, governed by a collective bargaining agreement with AFT Pro Staff representation.

What

You Will Be Working On Support ABE, GED, HS+, ESL students, staff, and faculty
  • Lead student retention efforts, including holding progression and appeal meetings.
  • Collaborate with other campus offices, such as Enrollment Services and Workforce Education, on behalf of BTSD students, staff, and faculty.
  • Oversee Tutoring Center operations in collaboration with the Tutoring Center Coordinator.
  • Manage and schedule instructional computer labs and quarterly CASAS post‑testing.
  • Collaborate with instructional resources faculty lead to identify Ed Tech Tools/Resources and to support and troubleshoot as needed.
  • Regularly communicate administrative program requirements and deadlines to staff and faculty such as registration deadlines and reminders about attendance reporting.
Lead grant efforts, reporting, and related data projects and assessment
  • Support the Dean with grant proposals (including BEDA Master Grant and IELCE Grant), reporting processes such as quarterly LACES data snapshots, and program review efforts for state and federal Basic Education for Adults funds dispersed by SBCTC.
  • Work with Reporting and Assessment Coordinator to ensure SBCTC data requirements are met, including CASAS testing, LACES demographic data intake, and special programs tracking.
  • Serve as CASAS Cadre co‑lead alongside the Reporting and Assessment Coordinator lead, including training and trouble‑shooting during CASAS pre‑ and post‑testing.
