Open Date DescriptionThe Department of Pediatrics and Division of Infectious Disease, at the University of Washington School of Medicine/Seattle Children’s Hospital is seeking one candidate to join our faculty as full‑time Assistant Professor (WOT), or Associate Professor (WOT), without tenure by reason of funding, on the Clinician‑Scholar track. Rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The anticipated start date is in 2026.
Assistant Professors are eligible for multi‑year appointments that align with a 12‑month service period (July 1‑June 30). Faculty with 12‑month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12‑month period (July‑June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
Associate Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12‑month service period (July 1‑June 30). Faculty with 12‑month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12‑month period (July‑June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.
The clinical responsibilities for this position will include attending on the Infectious Diseases Inpatient Consult Service and in the Infectious Diseases Clinic.
The administrative responsibilities include assuming the role of Associate Medical Director of Infection Prevention.
The Clinician‑Scholar track is appropriate for faculty members who will spend the majority of their time on clinical and/or administrative work. The track also provides the opportunity for and expectation of focused scholarship in the applicant's chosen area.
The Division of Infectious Diseases is a dynamic group of over 40 faculty members focused on excellence in research, clinical care, teaching, and quality improvement. Currently over 20 faculty members share the clinical responsibilities. Our vision is to eliminate infectious diseases in all children through effective, equitable, and innovative clinical care, research, and education. Our mission is to provide exceptional clinical care;
to make transformative discoveries to advance the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of pediatric infectious diseases; and to recruit, develop, and retain the next generation of leaders.
As the second largest Department in the UW School of Medicine, Pediatrics has twenty‑one clinical divisions with approximately 1,400 academic appointments, including approximately 650 paid faculty members, 134 residents, 70 ACGME fellows, 230 staff employees and over 600 volunteer/affiliate faculty and continues to grow each year. The Department of Pediatrics is a close affiliate of Seattle Children’s Hospital (SCH) and Seattle Children’s Research Institute (SCRI).
Faculty members appointed in the Department are located at various institutions (including Seattle Children’s, UW Medicine, and FHCRC), and are part of the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) clinical practice plan.
The base salary range for this position will be:
Assistant Professor range: $11,553 – $17,330 per month ($138,636 – $207,960 annually), Associate Professor range: $13,524 – $20,286 per month ($162,288 – $243,432 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University.
Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations.
Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through Children’s University Medical Group practice plan. Additional administrative responsibilities may be offered to a specific candidate with appropriate experience and qualifications which may result in an administrative supplement (ADS).
