Overview
Lakeside School, an independent 5-12 coeducational day school located in North Seattle, is recruiting for the role of Assistant Varsity Girls Crew Coach for the season. The coach will be hired for the fall and spring seasons. The fall season runs from Monday, August 25 to Friday, November 3. The spring season begins Monday, February 23 and ends in mid-May (if boats qualify for Nationals, an additional contract will be offered through mid-June).
Lakeside operates its own boathouse in Kenmore where the program is based. Coaches are expected to be at the boathouse by 3:00 pm each practice, which runs until approximately 6:00 pm. A required coaches meeting is on Monday, August 18, 3:30–6:30 at Lakeside School.
- Compliance with all Lakeside School policies and procedures.
- Commitment to providing supports, messaging, actions, and opportunities to a diverse student body who come to school with different and evolving lived experiences and levels of preparation as athletes.
- Supervision and instruction of student-athletes during team activities.
- Maintenance and inventory of team equipment and apparel.
- Support of multi-sport participation for student-athletes.
- Promotion of balanced achievement in all areas of school life for student-athletes.
- At least 25 years of age.
- Experience coaching crew at the club, high school, or college level.
- Demonstrated cultural awareness, including knowledge of themselves and the cultural lenses they bring to interactions. Candidates will understand different perspectives, interact respectfully with cultures other than their own, and cultivate meaningful relationships with people who have different cultural frameworks.
- Possess or obtain prior to the start of the season current First Aid/CPR certification and boater certification.
- Satisfactorily complete at least two criminal background checks.
Stipend Range: $6,000-$7,000 (per season).
Coaching stipends are paid in monthly installments during the primary competition seasons. Lakeside offers athletics apparel and funds for professional development opportunities.
