Assistant, Associate, or full Professor, Interventional Cardiologist

Position Overview

The Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine, University of Washington School of Medicine and UW Heart Institute is seeking a full-time Assistant, Associate, or full Professor on the Clinical Practice Track at Harborview Medical Center. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW’s Faculty Code Section 24‑34. The initial appointment period will be three years, with eligibility for renewal thereafter.

Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multi‑year appointments that align with a 12‑month service period (July 1‑June 30). Faculty with 12‑month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12‑month period (July‑June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure. Full‑/part‑time status is negotiable.

The anticipated start date will July 1, 2026 or thereafter.

Harborview Medical Center has a newly built cardiac procedure room with the capacity for full spectrum coronary intervention using state‑of‑the‑art imaging, physiology, lesion modification and mechanical circulatory support. Harborview is one of the nation’s leading academic medical centers, a Level 1 trauma center in the 5‑state WWAMI region (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho), and maintains a close relationship with Medic One.

The Cardiology service has seen rapid growth with an expanded inpatient service, electrophysiology team, and a newly renovated clinic with views of Puget Sound.

• Perform interventional procedures in the catheterization lab at Harborview Medical Center.
• See patients in the outpatient clinic and rotate on the inpatient service at Harborview.
• Provide echocardiography reading if desired.
• Conduct didactic teaching and hands‑on procedural teaching for cardiology and interventional fellows.
• Engage in quality improvement, clinical research, and community outreach opportunities.
• Report to the Cardiology Service Chief at Harborview Medical Center and the Interventional Cardiology Section Head for the Division of Cardiology.

• MD, DO, or foreign equivalent with board certified/eligible interventional cardiology (or foreign equivalent).
• Eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Washington.
• Strong interpersonal skills to build referral relationships throughout King, Pierce and Snohomish counties.
• For foreign (non‑US) medical school graduates: successful completion of all three steps of the USMLE or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

The base salary range for this position will be $20,000‑$41,667 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Other compensation may include an administrative salary supplement (ADS) and incentive through UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan.
