Hospital Consult Liaison Psychiatrist Per Diem

Overview

This hospital-based position works cooperatively with the medical, surgical, emergency and social work services to address the complex medical and behavioral health needs of patients receiving care at Virginia Mason Medical Center. The Consultation-Liaison psychiatry service cares for patients experiencing delirium, mood, psychotic, anxiety, substance use, and somatic symptom disorders, and other conditions. The service also works with patients under Involuntary Treatment Act with Single Bed Certification.

Our psychiatrists educate clinical teams about behavioral health care, including participation in multiple residency programs. This role emphasizes a collaborative, team-based environment with physicians, advanced practitioners, medical and surgical trainees, nurses, social workers and other health professionals.

The consult psychiatry team works weekdays, taking consults from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm or 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, five days per week. There are currently no overnight or weekend responsibilities for team members, as this is covered by an outside telepsychiatry service.

• BE/BC Psychiatrist;
  Fellowship training and BC/BE in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry is preferred
• Ability to obtain a medical professional license in the State of WA
• Ability to obtain a DEA license with full prescriptive authority needed for the specific practice
