Our talented fashion design team — the Nordstrom Product Group (NPG) — develops, designs, produces and sources Nordstrom brand products. From traditional to trendy, this team is shaping the styles and looks our customer love. And we have an opportunity for a Senior Designer on the Women's Apparel Team.
As a Senior Designer for women's apparel at Nordstrom, you will own the category — conceptualizing, sketching and executing collection ideas that represent the Brand Ethos and fashion trends that appeal to the Nordstrom customer.
A day in the life- Conceptualize, accurately sketch and execute collection ideas that represent target customer.
- Design original and commercially viable product.
- Act as fashion authority to drive brand designs and point of view.
- Manage calendar across design team to ensure all milestones and due dates are met.
- Research materials and components.
- Prioritize workload and complex work streams across design team.
- Effectively collaborate with leadership and cross-divisional partners to ensure alignment on priorities and direction.
- Research and analyze trends and competitive brands.
- Manage and develop an efficient and effective design team through performance feedback, goal-setting and development plans.
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, preferred.
- 7+ years' experience in design industry.
- 2+ years of experience managing a design team, a plus.
- Strong ability to hand-sketch.
- Ability to handle high volume of styles.
- Ability to think strategically and deliver the right level of detail appropriate to the audience.
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite and Adobe CS.
- Ability to work independently or as a team; with strong time management and multi-tasking skill.
