Summary

In addition to our Airport and Airfield core work, Geometrics supports major infrastructure and utility projects for municipalities. We are involved with transportation and water/wastewater infrastructure projects. Geometrics Engineering is seeking a qualified Civil QA Inspector to join our Redmond WA based team. This role will support our construction services team with assignments throughout the Pacific Northwest focusing on QA inspection for municipal and airport related projects.

This includes earthwork, drainage, utilities, construction, facilities, and geotechnical work assignments in the field. The inspector will ensure quality assurance by monitoring, documenting, and verifying construction field activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, plan sets, federal/state/local or other regulatory requirements, quality standards, and specific client requirements.

Focus Areas and Responsibilities

  • Support Construction Manager(s) and Engineer(s) to deliver high-quality construction projects.
  • As an on-site QA inspector, ensure that construction activities adhere to project specifications, quality standards, and federal, state/local requirements.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and observations of contractor/subcontractor activities, ensuring alignment with approved construction plans, safety standards, and QA/QC protocols.
  • Verify utility installations in accordance with project requirements including but not limited to storm drain, underdrain, water, sewer, electrical, and associated structures.
  • Provide consistent updates on construction progress, noting any deviations and corrective measures taken.
  • Verify and review as-built documentation for accurate project records.
  • Utilize construction management software (e.g., Procore, Unifier).
  • Ensure contractor compliance with client’s safety, environmental, and federal, state and local regulations.
  • Be proactive in identifying and addressing potential safety issues, ensuring all construction work aligns with strict safety protocols.

Requirements and Experience

  • Proven QA inspection experience in heavy civil or airport construction projects.
  • Preferred Certifications in APWA, ICC, ACI, NASSCO, NICET, WSDOT etc.
  • Experience in specialized material testing and inspection.
  • Strong capability in interpreting construction plans and specifications.
  • Prior experience with airfield improvement projects, water and wastewater infrastructure is highly desired.
  • Proven ability to develop effective working relationships with contractors, proactively resolve field issues, and communicate any concerns to the Construction Manager and Resident Engineer.
  • Detailed daily report writing, capturing weather conditions, labor force, equipment usage, materials quantities, QA/QC testing summaries, and any discussion with field personnel and contractors.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain airport badge that may include a Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and Security Threat Assessment (STA).
  • Proficiency in MSOffice, Procore, Unifier.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to maintain detailed, accurate project documentation.
