Summary
These temporary positions are expected to start March 30th and end around the beginning of May*.
Scope ofJob Duties
- Operate Mail Opener to open and prepare incoming property tax payments for processing.
- Identify payments that cannot be posted and return to sender for various reasons.
- Review and enter Name & Address changes; enter account/parcel numbers into a formatted Excel spreadsheet with accuracy, speed, and high attention to detail.
- Collect & process cash, checks, cards, & other payments primarily for property taxes.
- Reconcile collections against subsystems and respond to questions about payments.
- Support one or more processing teams to include Cashiers, Revenue Collections, and others as assigned.
- Demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills in verbal, written, and electronic formats.
- Ability to work in the office.
- 10‑Key proficiency with high attention to detail.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to lift a tray of mail (less than ten pounds).
- Team player with a "can‑do" attitude.
- Can work collaboratively with a diverse team.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience with LEAN processes and principles.
- Experience with SharePoint, MS Teams and other collaborative online tools.
This position is Non‑Exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore overtime eligible. Employees are paid bi‑weekly, every other Thursday, on a 35‑hour work week; 7 to 8‑hour shifts within the hours of 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. This position is represented by Teamsters 117.
The work associated with this position will be 100% in office. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
