POSITION OVERVIEW
The Principal is a senior role focused on strategic business development and high-level account management
. This position is structured as an individual contributor role rather than an internal people-management position. The position may have external management responsibilities supporting our candidate and client teams.
This role is designed for a senior political operator confident in developing deep referral relationships and identifying timely opportunities in congressional, statewide, and legislative cycles. The focus is on late-summer primaries, post-primary general elections, and off-year elections where client potential is limited and decisions must be made quickly. The role is critical for driving immediate revenue growth and long-term firm profitability by acquiring and servicing high-stakes, compressed-timeline engagements.

- Location: Hybrid – Downtown Seattle Office
- Reports To: CEO
- Other Compensation:
- Up to $20,000 in personal performance incentives, and 10% firmwide net profit‑sharing for 2025‑6 cycle (this percentage is adjusted annually)
- Bad Year:
Upwards of $20,000 - Normal Year:
Upwards of $30,000 - Good Year:
Upwards of $50,000 - Level: Senior Individual Contributor (Equivalent to Vice President)
DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Principal's work is divided into two primary areas: proactive business development and senior client management.
Business Development & Client Acquisition:
- Identify, cultivate, and close new client opportunities aligned with the firm’s political and public affairs work.
- Leverage personal and professional networks across campaigns, PACs, nonprofits, party committees, and allied organizations.
- Lead pitch development, proposal strategy, and client presentations independently.
- Proactively pursue late‑cycle and high‑opportunity environments, including:
- Congressional and statewide races following August or late-summer primaries.
- Competitive general election races that emerge late due to polling, fundraising, or opponent shifts.
- Off‑year legislative and statewide election campaigns seeking senior outside support.
- Identify opportunities created by primary upsets, sudden competitiveness, or leadership/vendor changes late in the cycle.
- Partner with internal teams to accurately scope engagements, pricing, and timelines for profitability.
Account Management & Strategic Advising:
- Serve as the senior relationship manager for a defined portfolio of clients.
- Act as a strategic advisor to candidates and organizations operating under tight deadlines and high-pressure conditions.
- Build actionable campaign plans for clients.
- Maintain proactive, high-trust communication with clients to drive retention, renewals, and account growth.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure strong execution and client satisfaction.
METRICS
This is a full-time position. The role is evaluated based on a combination of new business generation, client portfolio health, and strategic contribution to the firm’s growth strategy.
- Business Development (New Client Acquisition, Pitching, Closing) – 50% of the role.
- Account Management (Relationship Health, Retention, Growth) – 30% of the role.
- Strategic Insight & Internal Partnership (Scoping, Forecasting, Team Collaboration) – 20% of the role.
