Operations Manager (Part-Time) — Seattle Makers
Seattle Makers is a large, hands‑on community makerspace with multiple studios, staff, instructors, volunteers, classes, and events running in parallel. We’re looking for an Operations Manager to own day‑to‑day execution so the space runs smoothly without founder‑level involvement in routine decisions.
This role exists to take real operational ownership
, not to "help out" or wait for instructions.

- Be the primary point of contact for day‑to‑day operational issues
- Ensure the space is open, staffed, safe, and functional
- Handle routine decisions independently; elevate only true edge cases with context
- Manage schedules for staff, instructors, and key volunteers
- Handle call‑outs, coverage gaps, and operational conflicts
- Support onboarding and role clarity using existing materials
- Act as first‑line support for day‑to‑day issues
- Coordinate logistics for classes, workshops, member issues
- Ensure rooms, tools, and supplies are ready in advance
- Keep calendars and room assignments accurate and usable
- Respond to routine member questions
- Ensure issues are followed through to resolution
- Keep things from "floating" or getting dropped
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and the landlord
- Track maintenance issues and follow up until resolved
- Handle routine purchasing within set budgets What This Role Is Not
- Strategic planning or fundraising
- Marketing, branding, or social media
- Final authority on pricing, memberships, or policy
Those remain with leadership.
Who This Is ForYou’ll likely be a good fit if you:
- Have 2–4+ years experience in operations, facilities, studio, or community space management
- Are comfortable making decisions without perfect rules
- Notice problems early and close loops reliably
- Communicate clearly with staff, volunteers, instructors, and members
- Are comfortable in physical, hands‑on environments
- Can keep systems organized using Google Workspace and shared tools
Hours:
25–30 hours/weekLocation:
Primarily on‑site at Seattle Makers (limited remote admin)Reporting to:
90-Day Trial
Founder- $24–$30/hour
, depending on experience
If the trial is successful, compensation may increase to $28–$34/hour
Benefits (Post-Trial)
