Position: Housing Enrollment Assistant

The Housing Stabilization Services program provides culturally responsive and linguistically appropriate services to refugees. The purpose of the HSS program is to provide critical housing financial assistance and support which enables eligible individuals and families to retain safe and affordable housing.

The role of the Housing Enrollment Assistant will be to provide support to the HSS team with all HSS services such as applying for rental assistance, providing housing navigation services, making internal and external referrals to connect clients with other providers, attending outreach events, and hosting workshops.

Major Responsibilities
  • Assisting the housing specialists in enrolling clients in housing services, which may include providing information on available housing options, eligibility requirements, and application processes.
  • Answering phone calls and responding to emails from clients in a professional and courteous manner and directing them to the appropriate housing services.
  • Maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date records of client information and housing services, using various filing and database management systems.
  • Providing general administrative support, such as scheduling appointments, preparing correspondence, and filing documents.
  • Collaborating with other IRC staff members and departments to ensure efficient and effective delivery of housing services.
  • Documentation of case notes on IRC systems such as ETO and Integra.
  • Support in planning and hosting housing‑related workshops.
  • Performing in‑person and virtual client enrollment as required by the HSS program.
  • Participating in community outreach events to increase the visibility of housing services provided by IRC.
  • Attend IRC meetings and trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Housing Enrollment Specialist, Resettlement Manager, and Deputy Director of Programs
  • Internal contacts:
    Economic Empowerment team, Development team, Finance, Operations and other IRC teams as needed.
  • External contacts:
    All community service providers, partners and organizations.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field of study preferred.
  • Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations strongly preferred.
  • Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships.
  • 1‑3 years of experience working in an administrative role.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member in a fast‑paced, cross‑cultural environment.
  • Self‑starter with excellent problem‑solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi‑task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work product.
  • English proficiency, both spoken and written, and professional proficiency in relevant languages preferred (i.e., Dari, Pashto, Swahili, Arabic, Ukrainian, Russian, Tigrinya, Spanish).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem‑solving purposes.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle.
