Staff Accountant - Cash/Prepaid, Seattle, WA 98134

Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 per hour

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team within the Engineering industry. This role will focus on Cash/Prepaid accounting, playing a pivotal role in our month‑end close process, maintaining the general ledger and balance sheet, and performing cash reconciliations.

• Participate in the month‑end close process, including preparation and posting of journal entries, and ensure accurate and timely financial statements.
• Perform cash reconciliations on a daily and monthly basis, identifying and resolving any discrepancies.
• Maintain and analyze prepaid expense schedules, ensuring accurate and timely recognition of expenses.
• Maintain the general ledger system, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
• Perform balance sheet maintenance and analysis, identifying and resolving any discrepancies.
• Prepare and present financial reports, providing clear and concise analysis and commentary on financial performance.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance with internal controls and policies.
• Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary information and answering queries.
• Continually identify ways to improve processes and increase efficiency.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in accounting, preferably within the Engineering industry.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPS, and complex formulas.
• Experience with month‑end close, cash reconciliations, prepaid expense schedules, general ledger and balance sheet maintenance and analysis.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and other accounting principles.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and provide meaningful insights.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly present financial data to non-financial personnel.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
• Self‑starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
