Position Description
The Lake Washington School District Accounting Department is seeking a qualified candidate for the Accounting Supervisor position. The role is based at the district Resource Center in Redmond and reports to the Director of Accounting. This is a full‑time, year‑round position with a full benefit package.

The Accounting Supervisor reports to the Director of Accounting, managing district funds and ensuring timely and accurate payment of invoices for goods and services. A strong working knowledge of automated accounting systems is required, along with the ability to supervise staff in its use. The Supervisor acts in a supporting capacity to the Director of Accounting and assumes managerial responsibilities in their absence.
Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to government accounting, including the Revised Code of Washington (RCW), Washington Administrative Code (WAC), and the accounting manual for public school districts in Washington.
- Proficiency in generally accepted accounting principles and fund accounting.
- Knowledge of state and federal accounting rules, practices, and financial reporting.
- Preferred knowledge of Skyward/Qmlativ.
- Advanced skills in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook, with the ability to identify processes that may benefit from technology.
- Ability to develop, supervise, and evaluate staff.
- Ability to detect errors when verifying data.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Ability to collaborate with school and central office staff, parents, and community members.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to keep accurate records, input data, and prepare reports.
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or a related field. Additional professional level experience may substitute for required education.
- Five years of experience in accounting or accounts payable related positions required.
- Two years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Prior public school experience preferred.
