Salary Range: $4,735- $6,356 Monthly
This position is represented by the Teamsters 117 bargaining unit.
The Washington State Department of Corrections is seeking a motivated and critical thinking team player to join the Cedar Creek Corrections Center (CCCC) team as a Fiscal Analyst 1! The goal of this position is to ensure the accurate and timely management of agency resources by performing general fund accounting and reconciling general ledgers accurately and timely.
The candidate of choice must be able to pivot on a dime with daily tasks and deadlines. As an FA1, this position is responsible for a multitude of tasks including local fund and general accounting activities to include daily deposits, journal vouchers, general ledger and purchase card reconciliations. This position has a wide array of duties which include preparing gate release funds and arranging for transportation as requested on an incarcerated individual's release paperwork and accurately and efficiently processing deposit and withdrawal activity for locally held accounts.
This position requires a high level of collaboration and communication as you will participate in local team meetings, foster positive, ethical and professional workplace relationships, build positive relationships with your counterparts at other facilities to ensure you are using consistent best practices, and participate in active communication ensuring timely information sharing with customers including custody staff on possible security issues.

As a Fiscal Analyst 1, some of your duties will include:- General Fund Accounting which includes:
- Preparing, analyzing and GL Account Reconciliation
- Preparing journal vouchers (JV) and A-19 warrants to record financial activity.
- Recording financial activity into the Agency Financial Reporting System (AFRS)
- Recording and reconciling reimbursable activities and ensuring expenditures are cleared from the general fund by AFRS fiscal month close
- Independently running Accounting for Local Funds (ALF) and Enterprise Reporting (ER) to analyze and reconcile AFRS General Ledgers for discrepancies and correct as appropriate
- Incarcerated Individual releases:
Apply policy 200.000 guidelines to payment of outstanding department debt and deductions from I/I sub-accounts required by statute and prepare release check from I/I’s account. - Assisting the Local Business Manager with completing monthly and annual ACFR duties
- Preparing, analyzing and GL Account Reconciliation
- Local Fund Accounting which could look like:
- Accurately and efficiently processing deposit and withdrawal activity for locally held accounts
- Preparing and processing accounting entries for local accounts
- Preparing monthly local fund financial reports, preparing and producing payment for local fund liabilities owed to the Department and other local funds, State of WA, and external entities to include other-State/Federal/County agencies and the courts
- Entering daily deposit of cash receipts into Accounting for Local Funds (ALF) system
- High School Diploma or GED
- Accounting 201 and Accounting 202 from an accredited college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the US Department of Education and the Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or foreign equivalent
