Accounts Receivable Senior Accountant

Position Description

Seattle Parks and Recreation’s Accounting department is seeking individuals with professionalism and integrity who bring a great attitude, excellent customer service and have a good knowledge base and experience in Accounts Receivable, attentive to detail.

This position will be reported to the Accounts Receivable supervisor. The Senior Accountant performs complex professional accounting work in the maintenance, control, analysis and development of financial records, reports and systems; maintains accounting records in the general ledger and other financial systems; prepares and analyzes accounting/financial data and reports; performs research and interprets accounting standards and regulations.

• Leads or supervises technicians creating invoices and maintaining customer account in system.
• Trains, monitors and reviews Technician II work; ensures compliance with appropriate procedures and reporting requirements.
• Develops, modifies and implements accounting systems, standards, procedures and financial controls.
• Prepares complex and detailed financial accounting reports, statements and schedules.
• Performs accounting and financial research, analysis and reporting on financial, accounting and to resolve issues.
• Reconciles departmental financial data and accounting systems to other departmental subsidiary systems.
• Reviews, develops and modifies internal accounting control policies, procedures and practices.

• Minimum:
  Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field plus three years professional experience in general or governmental accounting.
• Desired:
  Perform variety of Accounts Receivable functions and maintain customer files.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Excel, Outlook, Teams.
• Excellent written and verbal skills, high attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proactive and independent work attitude; track record with meeting deadlines.
• Maintain positive working relationship in a multi-cultural workplace with a diverse customer base.
• Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.

Hybrid work schedule at home and office; 9/80 or 4/10 work schedule available.

The full salary range for this position is $46.40 to $54.02 per hour.
