Overview
Under the direction of the Recreation Program Supervisor, the incumbent will plan, prepare, coordinate, and implement recreational and educational classes and activities for the citizens of Sea Tac; assist in the overall planning and coordination of the City’s Parks and Recreation programs; schedule and train assigned personnel, and assist supervisor with developing and monitoring the program budget.
Responsibilities- Plan, prepare, coordinate, and implement recreational and educational classes, activities, and community-wide events for assigned City populations, including youth, teens, adults, seniors, special populations, and cultural arts; evaluate the effectiveness of these programs and modify as needed.
- Monitor, schedule and supervise facility use by participant groups; provide rental information and rent space to patrons; open and close the facility as needed.
- Maintain inventory of materials, supplies and equipment; observe and report need for maintenance services. Help maintain the cleanliness of program vehicles.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and seasonal schedules of events and activities; develop and coordinate schedules with parks department and other City staff. Register patrons for recreation programs and classes.
- Provide a variety of general information to the public regarding Parks and Recreation programs and activities; respond to questions and resolve complaints as needed; attend community meetings to notify public of daily operations and special projects; attend conferences and workshops as required.
- Train, coordinate, and monitor the work of assigned volunteers and seasonal employees; make recommendations for personnel actions as appropriate, and assist in the recruitment, selection, and hiring process.
- Implement Youth Program Quality (YPQ) and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) into program delivery.
- Conduct informational meetings with seasonal and temporary employees, and volunteers concerning policies, procedures, rules and regulations related to their specific activities; assist with planning and producing marketing tools such as brochures, fliers, press releases, news articles, and social media outlets such as Facebook.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships and communication with department and City staff, school district administration, county and other government agencies, community organizations and the general public. Attend meetings as assigned; encourage and gain public involvement in program planning; communicate with vendors, suppliers and contractors as needed.
- Compile and maintain records and reports relating to Parks and Recreation programs; compile statistical data and prepare reports on Parks and Recreation program attendance, facility use, and budgeted expenditures.
- Assist with monitoring expenses within assigned budget and revenue; purchase materials, supplies and equipment according to established policies and procedures; make recommendations for purchases; control and monitor daily program fees.
- Assist with pursuing additional resources for programs through grant applications, solicitation of donations, and other fundraising activities.
- Operate a variety of office equipment including a personal computer and a variety of software such as word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, and database applications; operate a vehicle to perform assigned duties.
- Render routine First Aid in case of minor injury and administer CPR as needed.

Qualifications- High School diploma or GED required.
- College-level coursework in recreation and leisure studies or related field is required. Degree in recreation and leisure studies or related field preferred.
- Two (2) years of recreation program experience required. Supervisory experience in a recreation program is preferred.
- CPRP (Certified Parks & Recreation Professional) is preferred.
- A combination of education, training and experience that provides the candidate with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job.
