HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
The Grants Accountant ensures accurate, timely billing and financial reporting for government and foundation funding, enabling programs to sustain services and meet funder requirements. By maintaining compliance with grant regulations and strengthening financial data integrity, this role supports responsible stewardship of public and private resources. The position provides reliable financial insight that helps program and finance teams plan, monitor, and deliver services effectively across communities.
- Prepare and submit grant and contract billings and financial reports in accordance with funder requirements and established timelines
- Monitor grant budgets and expenditures to ensure alignment with allowable costs, funding limits, and contract deliverables
- Reconcile accounts receivable and resolve variances related to grant and contract activity
- Collaborate with program and finance staff to review spending, support projections, and maintain accurate financial data
- Compile documentation and schedules to support audits, financial monitoring, and regulatory compliance
- Apply GAAP and Uniform Guidance standards to revenue recognition, reporting, and internal controls
- Contribute to budgeting, process improvements, and financial system enhancements related to grants management
HOW YOU WILL BE A GREAT FIT:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible accounting experience
- Minimum of two years of grants or contracts accounting experience and at least five years of general accounting experience with similar duties
- Working knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting, and grant compliance requirements, including cost reimbursement billing
- Demonstrated experience preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, and supporting audits
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain accurate financial records
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with program and finance staff
- Proficiency in financial systems and standard business software used for accounting and reporting
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written
- Demonstrates resilience, awareness and self‑regulation in navigating challenges, conflict and obstacles/barriers.
