Garden Center Cashier

Overview

Dennis' 7 Dees Garden Center is seeking a plant-savvy Cashier who loves helping people bring their gardening visions to life. As the first point of contact for our customers, you will answer questions about plant care, product selection, and gardening solutions—in person and over the phone—while processing transactions and keeping the store running smoothly. This part-time position offers approximately 25-30 hours per week with potential for full-time, year-round employment.

• Provide excellent, friendly customer service to all customers.
• Process customer transactions efficiently and accurately using our POS system.
• Problem-solve to address customers’ horticultural questions and issues.
• Answer and direct phone calls promptly and professionally.
• Assist customers in finding plants and products that meet their needs.
• Support coworkers by providing resources and facilitating sales.
• Operate and troubleshoot POS system and inventory database.
• Coordinate and arrange customer deliveries with timely follow-through.
• Perform light plant care including watering, deadheading, and basic grooming.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing store environment.

• Availability on weekends is required.
• 6+ months of cashier or customer service experience in retail or service industry.
• Working knowledge of common plants (annuals, perennials, trees, shrubs, houseplants) and eagerness to continuously learn.

• Punctual, reliable, and prepared for work each day.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
• Strong communication skills and friendly demeanor.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
• Able to walk, bend, stoop, and stand for the entire shift.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening.

• Variable schedule with approximately 25-30 hours per week.
• Store hours: 9am-5pm, 7 days a week.
• Weekend availability (Saturdays and Sundays) is required.
• Must be capable of working outside during all weather conditions.
• This position is located at our Seaside, OR garden center.

• Starting wage of $17.00-$18.00 per hour, dependent upon experience.
