Facilities Manager – The Salvation Army Southern California

Responsibilities- Oversee maintenance schedule for all facilities (including Transitional and Emergency Housing, Good Samaritan Center, Housing Office, Youth Center, Apartments/Corps Officers’ Quarters, and maintenance and storage buildings/closets).
- Prepare and maintain currently unoccupied spaces for use.
- Coordinate janitorial and maintenance contractors as approved by Corps Officer.
- Ensure storage areas, closets, containers, rooms, and buildings are clean, neat, and organized.
- Monitor expenses related to property upkeep and repairs.
- Administer facility components of the TSA Injury and Illness Prevention Plan.
- Ensure maintenance and landscaping tools/equipment are in good, safe condition.
- Authorize maintenance work through emailed work orders and Corps Officer approvals; complete in a timely manner.
- Oversee contracted landscaping services (mowing, fertilization, edging, watering).
- Ensure sprinkler systems function properly and oversee necessary repairs.
- Ensure Corps vehicles are operational and properly maintained; keep mobile canteen operational and fuel levels adequate.
- Supervise maintenance staff, guiding and directing them as needed.
- Effectively deploy volunteers, overseeing safety and task suitability.
- Attend safety committee meetings and conduct inspections as required.
- Ensure room set-ups for meetings and chapel preparation for Sunday Services; coordinate special projects, perform deliveries, and arrange for holiday drives.
- Experience in physical facilities maintenance management, including monitoring contracts and warranties with the Business Administrator.
- Experience supervising maintenance staff.
- Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, water, landscape, and irrigation systems.
- California driver’s license (required).
- Working knowledge of directing vendors/sub‑contractors.
- Ability to request and analyze bids for projects and property repairs.
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
- Strong leadership ability to direct and organize staff.
- Able to work and relate well with people.
- Maintain a professional attitude and approach to problem solving.
- Able to accomplish tasks with minimal supervision.
- Maintain confidentiality of clients and staff.
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively with staff and vendors.
- Bilingual in Spanish (preferred).
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Equipment Used- Modern office equipment and relevant software.
- Relevant janitorial and maintenance equipment.
