Clinical Lab Specialist MT Sat​/Sun​/Mon

Overview

Responsible for performing and reporting results of all diagnostic tests offered by White County Medical Center Laboratory while participating in QA, IC, Safety QCI, and proficiency testing programs as required by OSHA and CLIA 88. This position requires knowledge in the care of patients served as indicated:
Neonate and infant birth up to one year, Childhood and Adolescence is one year to 17 years, Adult is 18 to 65 years and Geriatric is 65 years and above. Proficiency in phlebotomy must be maintained.

• Perform and report results of all diagnostic tests offered by the laboratory.
• Participate in QA, IC, Safety QCI, and proficiency testing programs as required by OSHA and CLIA 88.
• Maintain proficiency in phlebotomy and applicable patient-care procedures.

• Education: At least a B.S. degree in Biological, Physical or Chemical Science or a Clinical Laboratory Science program, per the Personnel Standards of the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988.

  Experience:
  
  On-the-job training is possible for certain candidates meeting the minimum educational requirements (per CLIA standards).
• Job Knowledge: Qualifies as Testing Personnel under CLIA 88 under indirect supervision of the Clinical Laboratory Director; knowledge commensurate with educational experience.
• Safety Sensitive: YES. A safety-sensitive position is one in which impaired performance could result in harm to the health and/or safety of self or others. Any associate actively using medical marijuana, even with a valid medical marijuana card, will be excluded from employment in a safety-sensitive position.

• Physical Effort:
  Walking, bending, using stairs, working with bio-hazardous material, and wearing protective equipment as required by OSHA.
