ResponsibilitiesResponsible for maintaining standards of patient care in accordance with hospital regulations, policies and procedures as established for physical therapy. Confers with the medical staff regarding policies and procedures pertaining to the care of their patients in this area. Supervises P.T.A.’s and/or therapy aides and technicians. Must exhibit good rapport with other departments and nursing staff to enhance the quality of patient care.
Works directly with patients of all ages, staff physicians, other rehab associates, nursing associates, and social workers. Active in continuous quality improvement studies. Assists with securing and maintaining equipment needed for procedures, charging, and scheduling. Physical effort: lift and carry equipment, assists patients in positioning and transfers as needed for specific treatment programs. Talking and hearing to convey instructions and information to patients and staff members.
Visual acuity to perceive reactions to treatment and to read instructions.
- Education:
Minimum B.S. degree in physical therapy from an accredited institution offering training in this specialty, plus a supervised clinical internship to prepare for professional licensing. Must complete examination with scores required to obtain licensure. Must have a current license to practice physical therapy in the State of Arkansas. - Training and
Experience:
One to three months on-the job training to learn department procedures. - Job Knowledge:
Must be able to perform job duties of a registered physical therapist and those general duties specific to the Rehabilitative Services Department. Must be able to function in a professional manner with minimal direct supervision. - Safety Sensitive: YES
