Overview
Patient Care Tech, 6p-6a, Float Pool, Full Time
Responsibilities- Draws blood and transports to lab; collecting and receiving in proper manner.
- Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and filing as applicable; assist with patient care under the direction of the RN/LPN.
- Provide direct patient care: assist with activities of daily living, personal hygiene, monitoring vital signs, nutrition and fluid needs, elimination needs, and delegated tasks.
- Provide indirect care: general housekeeping, ordering and maintenance of supplies, and computer entry.
- Communicate effectively with hospital personnel and maintain a courteous, professional manner with patients and the public.
- Deliver appropriate care to patients from neonate through geriatric with age-specific considerations.
- Follow infection control and safety guidelines; adhere to UNITY HEALTH policies and procedures.
- Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required. Must be a graduate of an approved PCT program or have completed Unity Health PCA II Course. - Training and
Experience:
Training performing EKGs and phlebotomy preferred or time on the job; knowledge of basic non-technical skills acquired through on-the-job training. - Job Knowledge:
Phlebotomy, EKGs and filing. Able to deliver appropriate care to patients from neonate through geriatric; capable of computer entry and general clerical duties. - Safety Sensitive:
Yes. Qualified to work in safety-sensitive positions; comply with policy on medical marijuana.
Maintains good physical and emotional wellbeing. Requires a considerable amount of physical work, including lifting or pushing up to 50 pounds, assisting with patient mobility, and moving equipment. May require bending, walking, stair navigation, and responding to hospital emergencies. Visual and auditory acuity; significant computer entry and writing. May involve exposure to malodorous/infectious materials and require PPE as appropriate.
