High School, Performing Arts Roles/ Dance Instructor
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in Theatre to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth. Provide multiple opportunities to participate in extracurricular theatre activities and ensure compliance with all state, University Interscholastic League (UIL), and district requirements. Direct and manage the overall theatre program for the campus and district. Plan and administer theatre activities in accordance with campus and district expectations.
Plan and prepare to provide students the opportunity to achieve district, region, state, and national recognition
Bachelor's degree from accredited university;
Master's Degree with a minimum of 18 hours in Theatre preferred for Dual Credit
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
Special Knowledge/SkillsKnowledge of theatre and film
Ability to instruct students and manager their behavior
Knowledge of overall operation of a high school theatre program
Ability to manage budget and activity funds
Knowledge of state, UIL, and ITS policies governing theatre activities
Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

ExperienceStudent teaching, approved internship, or related work experience
Salary Information- Paygrade:
Board-approved teacher hiring scale - Days: 187
- Direct high school theatre students in various educational theatre components including, but not limited to, acting, costuming, make-up, set design and construction, lighting, sound, technical theatre, and directing.
- Establish performance/participation requirements, enforce academic requirements, and verify each student's eligibility to participate in theatre activities.
- Provide for student participation at extracurricular theatre events, including various performance venues, UIL, TxETA, and ITS activities.
- Arrange transportation, lodging, and meals for out-of-town events.
- Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, UIL rules, ITS rules, and local school board policy in the theatre area.
- Support theatre booster club activities.
- Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to determine program effectiveness and to ensure that program renewal is continuous and responsive to student needs.
- Recommend policies to improve the program.
- Ensure that funds are managed wisely.
- Coordinate fundraising activities and manage activity account funds.
- Maintain current inventory of all fixed assets within the department.
- Oversee process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all theatre equipment, props, costume components, etc.
- Apply and enforce theatre handbook.
- Accompany and supervise on all trips.
- Work to provide campus, district, and community awareness of theatre activities and performances.
- Provide supervisory leadership and guidance for the junior high theatre program.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in individual student differences.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
