The Porter is a business partner responsible for ensuring each customer’s experience meets or exceeds expectations by providing hot, freshly-prepared food of the highest quality. The role involves a skills development program and requires certification in the specific stations associated with the position.

• Protects and promotes the Whataburger Brand at all times.
• Notifies a member of the management team with sufficient lead time when unable to report to work as scheduled.
• Checks with management prior to leaving the restaurant at the scheduled time.
• Recognizes and communicates customer service problems to the manager on duty.
• Attends all meetings and training sessions as required by management.
• Submits requests for work schedule changes according to management guidelines.

• Operates all designated food production or customer service stations.
• Applies correct location storage for all items used.
• Achieves certification at the specific stations associated with the position.
• Accurately states all menu items, ingredient information, and availability.
• Stocks drink, fry, dining room stations and grill area to maintain continuity.
• Demonstrates knowledge of proper storage procedures and follows FIFO.
• Efficiently prepares produce items to maintain par levels.
• Maintains prepped produce for the next shift.
• Follows established recipes.
• Maintains utensils and equipment in good working order using proper cleaning.
• Follows correct procedures for lifting and carrying heavy items.
• Mops spills or leaks quickly.
• Notifies management of any leaks or equipment failures.
• Handles sanitizing and cleaning chemicals properly.
• Cleans customer service areas and surrounding spaces following procedures.
• Disposes of trash properly.
• Achieves certification in all cleaning and sanitation procedures.
• Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.

• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with restaurant operations.
• Stocks stations with appropriate items to ensure continuous service.
• Answers phone in a courteous manner following Whataburger procedure.

• Demonstrates fiscal responsibility with Company assets.
• Follows company cash handling policies.

• Must lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to stand entire shift.
• Ability to reach, bend, stoop, lift, shake, stir, pour, carry, and push.
• Ability to read orders, menu board, receipts.
• Frequent contact with water, cleaning solutions, meat, poultry, seafood, and produce.
• Frequent washing of hands.
