Overview
Nutrition Services Aide - 6 Hours Per Day (
Reports to:
Nutrition Services Supervisor)
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- Must be able to read and write and do simple arithmetic.
- Must be willing to successfully complete Units I through IV of the School Food Service Training Program within a three year period.
- Must be able to take the SERVSAFE course and successfully receive a passing grade for certification.
- Must be neat in appearance and adhere to dress code.
- A driver's license is required and will be capable of driving larger, non-COL required vehicles. Must have clean driving record.
- Demonstrate job attendance excellence.
Provides support to Nutrition Services department office and all school-based cafeterias.
Physical & Mental Demands- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in an inside and outdoor environment of cold temperatures, high heat, and humidity.
- Manual dexterity and ability to work under pressure are necessary.
Supportive duties are assigned daily, as applicable, to individual schools and by the Nutrition Services Department. Duties will be multiple.
Cafeterias Operations- Performs responsibilities to assure that students and staff are served appetizing and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness.
- Assists with preparation of food, including the main entree, baked goods, desserts, salads, sandwiches, or other items under the direction of the manager or cook.
- Supplies and restocks the serving line with food and supplies.
- Practices positive customer service in the service of meals to students and adults.
- Keeps line moving smoothly and swiftly.
- Keeps serving areas and counters clean at all times.
- Practices portion control.
- Prepares dishwasher for operation.
- May work at the receiving window and wash or load dishes into the machine or may work at the terminal end of the machine removing dishes, trays, and flatware.
- Restocks service or preparation areas with clean dishes, etc.
- Frequently checks dish machine for acceptable wash and rinse temperatures. Reports problems to manager.
- Cleans dishwasher and dishroom.
- De-limes dish machine weekly, as scheduled by the manager.
- Prepares cash register prior to meal service.
- Takes money for food and meal tickets, accurately accounts for each transaction (following school food service program regulations), counts money, verifies receipts with the manager.
- Records free and reduced price meals served.
- Records charged meals.
- Properly cleans and sanitizes equipment.
- Is responsible for cleaning of all work areas used as well as the general kitchen, as assigned.
- Appropriately uses chemicals/cleaning supplies for safe and effective cleaning/sanitation.
- Maintains a record of all food and supplies used each day.
- Practices safe food handling and maintains standards of health sanitation and safety as required by the State Board of Health.
- Properly operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Assists with other duties as assigned by the Nutrition Services Manager.
- Assist cafeterias during special events/activities/catering. Set up/break down. Driving food truck or other mobile feeding support vehicles to school locations.
- Provides assistance for Nutrition Services office.
- Performing miscellaneous office duties & organization as scheduled.
- Assist preparing Federal Administrative Review.
- Assist preparing SFSP Administrative Review.
- AP/AR reconciliation.
- Invoice/Statement matching.
- Bid provisions and compliances.
- Updates all data-bound materials. Sets up annual cafeteria manager binders, order guides, and calendars.
- Preservation of all Department mobile feeding vehicles.
- Maintain operational and service records of all vehicles.
- Develop and adhere to a service schedule keeping vehicles in top running condition.
- Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) - Supports all aspects where needed during the Program as assigned by Department Supervisor or SFSP Coordinator. Hands-on involvement in getting meals loaded & out to SFSP sites.
- Sustain positive relations with all site supervisors.
- Assists with other duties as assigned by the Nutrition Services Supervisor.
- Works in standard school cafeteria environment and in outdoor weather.
