The Safety Manager is responsible for leading and managing all safety programs within a large manufacturing facility. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations while fostering a strong safety culture across the plant. The Safety Manager will directly lead a team of safety professionals and partner with operations, maintenance, and leadership to proactively reduce risk and improve overall workplace safety performance.
Responsibilities- Lead, develop, and manage a team of safety professionals supporting plant-wide operations
- Design, implement, and continuously improve safety policies, programs, and procedures
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations
- Conduct and oversee risk assessments, job safety analyses, and hazard identification activities
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for all levels of the organization
- Partner with plant leadership to drive a culture of safety and accountability
- Track, analyze, and report safety metrics, trends, and performance indicators
- Manage regulatory inspections, audits, and agency interactions
- Support new equipment, process changes, and capital projects from a safety perspective
- Minimum of prior manufacturing experience (required); experience in a large, complex manufacturing plant strongly preferred
- Experience managing or leading a team of safety professionals
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and manufacturing safety standards
- Demonstrated ability to influence leadership and frontline employees
- Excellent communication, training, and organizational skills
- Experience in high-volume or heavy manufacturing environments
- Professional safety certification (e.g., CSP, ASP, CHST)
- Experience implementing behavior-based safety or continuous improvement initiatives
