The Library & Information Literacy Specialist serves as an instructional partner, information specialist, and program leader who supports students from preschool through eighth grade. The Library & Information Literacy Specialist embraces the dynamic nature of libraries and technology in education and fosters a love of reading, develops information literacy skills, and curates resources that support the school's curriculum, mission, and values.
The role balances direct instruction, collaboration with faculty, collection management, and the creation of a welcoming, inclusive library environment.

- Design and teach developmentally appropriate library lessons for students, including early literacy, research skills, digital citizenship, and ethical use of information
- Foster a lifelong love of reading through read-aloud, book talks, displays, and programming
- Support inquiry-based learning and research projects in collaboration with classroom teachers and specialists
- Stay current with best practices in librarianship, children's and young adult literature, and educational technology
- Partner with faculty to integrate information literacy, research, and reading initiatives into classroom instruction
- Manage cataloging, circulation systems, and inventory
- Select materials that reflect a wide range of perspectives, cultures, and voices
- Collaborate with the Business Office on library budget planning and allocation for materials and resources
- Support interdisciplinary and project-based learning by curating print and digital resources
- Support students in developing responsible and effective digital research skills
- Partner with technology department to integrate digital tools and platforms as appropriate

- Bachelor's degree required;
Master's degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited program a plus - Experience at the preschool through 8th grade level in library services, including instruction of research, information, and digital literacy skills
