Research and Development Chemist

Office based - Scunthorpe

With decades of experience in research and development, this privately owned company specialises in the production and manufacturing of patented products that are distributed worldwide. The role primarily focuses on research and development across three key areas: environmental impact, enhanced animal welfare and resource optimisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse market demands and emerging technologies to uncover new product opportunities
  • Evaluate potential raw materials and create lab-scale prototype formulations based on research insights
  • Assess ingredient compatibility and stability across different conditions
  • Design and implement chemical processes for the development of new animal nutrition and veterinary products
  • Enhance existing products and processes to boost yield, efficacy and cost-efficiency
  • Develop analytical techniques to track reaction progress and ensure product quality
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure smooth technology transfer
  • Prepare technical documentation, including batch records and regulatory submissions
  • Identify process deviations and apply corrective actions for resolution

Key Requirements:

  • MS/PhD in Chemistry or related field
  • Prior experience of managing multiple projects
  • Strong understanding of organic synthesis and analytical techniques
  • Experience with GMP regulations and pharmacopeial standards
  • Proven experience of process optimisation and scale-up
  • Understanding of chemical engineering principles
