A global manufacturing business is seeking a 100% mechanically biased Shift Mechanical Engineer to join their production engineering team. This is a hands‑on maintenance role supporting high‑speed manufacturing and packaging operations in a fast‑paced environment.
This role is ideal for a practical, technically strong mechanical engineer who enjoys fault finding, machine repair, and supporting production reliability.
The RoleWorking on a Panama shift pattern, you will be responsible for delivering both planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across automated production equipment. You will play a key role in reducing downtime, improving equipment reliability and supporting continuous improvement across the site.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out mechanical maintenance across production and manufacturing equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on automated, high‑speed machinery
- Support planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes
- Respond to breakdowns quickly to minimise production disruption
- Carry out strip‑down, rebuild and component replacement work
- Support reliability and process improvement activities
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Work in line with site safety and quality standards
We are looking for a strong, hands‑on mechanical engineer with experience working in production or manufacturing environments.
Essential- Strong mechanical engineering background (fully mechanical bias)
- Experience working in manufacturing, FMCG or high‑volume production environments
- Proven mechanical fault‑finding skills
- Experience with planned and reactive maintenance
- Comfortable working shift patterns
- Experience with automated production machinery
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical drive systems
- Continuous improvement or reliability exposure
- Practical and technically confident
- Strong problem solver
- Able to work under production pressure
- Team‑focused with good communication skills
