Job summary

General

So far as is consistent with the proper discharge of the above duties, the post holder undertakes to deputise from time to time for absent colleagues in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Service. The post holder accepts to also perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate Consultant in consultation where applicable, with his colleagues.

The post holder undertakes, exceptionally, to be available for such irregular commitments outside normal duties as are essential for continuity of patient care.

The post holder will be expected to attend the regular Multi‑Disciplinary Audit Meetings and may be offered research opportunities under the guidance of Consultants. The post holder will be encouraged to undertake skill‑based courses as appropriate and will be expected to take part in teaching and supervision of junior doctors and students in the department. The post holder will work together as a team within the group.

There is an Education Centre on site where regular clinical meetings are held.

Main duties of the job

The post would suit a good team player dedicated to high quality patient care. The opportunity exists to work in a non‑hierarchical setting and offer a wide range of gynaecological and obstetric procedures in this busy DGH. The appointee will be required to attain the requisite number of internal and external CME hours as detailed by the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and make quarterly returns to the RCOG for certification.

Job responsibilities
  • Deliver high quality care to patients presenting to the department.
  • Cover the second 1:7 on‑call rota from February 2019 and long days, nights and weekend cover on a 1:7 full shift rota.
  • Participate in departmental audit arrangements and attend the regular Multi‑Disciplinary Audit meetings.
  • Undertake CME on Friday afternoons.
  • Develop a special interest in one of the sub‑specialties (Colposcopy, Access Surgery, Ultrasound, Infertility and Out‑Patient Hysteroscopy).

  • Registerable Medical Degree
