We are looking for a Lead Carpenter with commercial construction experience, leadership skills, OSHA 10 certification preferred, and strong expertise in fundamental carpentry techniques to join our team full‑time team in Altoona, PA.
Duties and Responsibilities- Lead and oversee carpenters and apprentices to ensure quality workmanship, productivity, and adherence to project standards.
- Measure, cut, fabricate, and install trim, panels, doors, cabinetry, casework, and custom architectural woodwork per commercial specifications.
- Interpret blueprints and project documentation and communicate scope, sequencing, and details to crew members.
- Coordinate with project managers, site supervisors, and other trades to maintain schedules and resolve field issues.
- Plan and organize materials, tools, and manpower to support efficient workflow and minimize downtime.
- Ensure work complies with building codes, ADA requirements, and fire/safety regulations.
- Train and mentor crew members on techniques, safety practices, and quality expectations.
- Perform repairs, replacements, and upgrades in occupied commercial spaces with minimal disruption.
- Conduct site assessments and assist with pre‑installation planning and take‑offs.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Minimum of three (3) years of related experience in carpentry and leadership
- High school diploma or equivalent; formal training or apprenticeship in carpentry is strongly preferred
- Current OSHA 10‑hour certification (preferred)
- Can safely lift up to 60 pounds, climb ladders, stairs, and climb out of ditches
- Must wear proper protective equipment at all times
- Advanced knowledge of finish carpentry techniques and commercial construction standards
- Excellent troubleshooting, adaptation, and quality control skills for complex, fast‑paced projects
- Proficient with hand and power tools
- Strong understanding of commercial construction documents (blueprints, specs, submittals)
