Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Schedule: 36 hours within a 6-week period; PRN/Per Diem with a requirement of working one weekend every 6 weeks

The Meadows Psychiatric Center is a 119-bed inpatient behavioral health facility with outpatient programs spanning the continuum of care. The campus is located minutes outside of State College in Central PA and serves children through adults.

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling. LPNs complete all required documentation throughout the shift and work under the direct supervision of a Charge RN and Unit Nurse Manager.

• The LPN is accountable for assigned nursing care activities on a shift basis and promotes professional nursing practice on the unit under the direction of the Nurse Manager or DON.
• The LPN facilitates medication administration activities in accordance with safe medication practices, including patient education.
• The LPN responds to crisis/emergency events to direct staff and ensure patient safety.
• Communicates patient treatment response, emotional and behavioral changes, milieu dynamics and other pertinent information.
• Administers medication under the supervision of the Charge RN.
• Contributes to ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff through safety rounds, patient flow, and milieu management techniques.

Job Requirements:

• Valid Pennsylvania LPN License
• Interest in Psychiatric Nursing
• Previous Psych Nursing experience preferred but not required; on-the-job training and education provided
