Role Summary

Head Environment Vaccines US is a strategic environmental leader responsible for driving environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, and regulatory strategy for the site in the US vaccines portfolio. Based in Swiftwater, PA, you translate complex regulations into practical, site-level action plans that deliver measurable results and collaborate with engineering teams to justify environmental investments. You monitor performance data, provide data-driven recommendations to senior leadership, and foster a culture of environmental stewardship across the organization.

• Ensure the site’s activities comply with relevant Environment & Sustainability regulations and standards (local, state, and company); support the HSE Head to maintain environmental permits.
• Serve as the primary contact with site environmental regulatory agencies and ensure timely submission of required reports and documentation.
• Provide guidance on Environmental & Sustainability compliance issues.
• Support Site HSE Head on environmental regulatory strategies and compliance issues.
• Support compliance with regulatory and company environmental requirements.
• Develop and implement site plans aligned with Sanofi environmental policies (eco-design, climate change, waste circularity, water stewardship, biodiversity).
• Develop local environmental and sustainability policies and programs.
• Validate the site’s budget and strategic plan to ensure sufficient resources for environmental programs.
• Assess and mitigate environmental impacts of the site’s operations, identifying, assessing, and managing environmental impacts and opportunities.
• Implement process improvements and monitor environmental performance (air, water, wastewater, waste management, GHG emissions).
• Lead initiatives to reduce the site’s environmental footprint (eco-design, water stewardship, waste, biodiversity); work with engineering to optimize resource use (energy, water efficiency, etc.).
• Decide on sustainability initiatives and track progress of environmental improvement projects.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and drive innovation in environmental practices and processes.
• Recommend resource management strategies.
• Lead investigations into environmental incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions; approve final reports and recommendations following investigations.
• Lead and promote proactive HSE culture by delivering training on environment and sustainability for all employees and stakeholders.
• Engage with external environmental experts to ensure site capabilities meet responsibilities.
• Monitor and report local environmental performance and trends to senior leadership; use data to drive decisions.
• Ensure quality and timeliness of environmental data reporting.

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, Occupational Health & Safety, or related technical field.
• 7+ years of experience in HSE, environmental management, sustainability, engineering, operations, or related fields.
• Strong knowledge of environmental sustainability, air permitting, wastewater and waste management.
• Advanced knowledge in product stewardship, regulatory management, matrix management, problem solving, project management; ability to influence.
• Strong ability to coach and drive transformation and environmental performance.
