Waldron Mercy Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Seventh and Eighth Grade Science Teacher to join our dynamic team. The position is full time with an expected start date of 8/26/26.
Essential Functions:Prepares 7th/8th Grade science curriculum, materials and classroom for student learning.
Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
Plans and conducts activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question and investigate.
Instructs students individually and in groups using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, demonstrations and hands on learning.
Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects and communicates these objectives to students.
Prepares, administers and grades tests and assignments in order to evaluate students’ progress.
Meets with parents and guardians to discuss their children’s progress.
Collaborates with other teachers, the STEM and Innovation Specialists, and administrators in the development, evaluation and revision of the Science curriculum and lab activities.
Homeroom responsibilities and other duties as assigned.
Demonstrates a strong passion for science.
Attends professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.
Strong commitment to Catholic, Mercy education with personal and professional presence consistent with the Sisters of Mercy charisms (hospitality, outreach, openness and trust).
Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in related field of study;
Graduate degree preferred.
Valid teaching certification in relevant area.
Minimum of three years experience at an appropriate grade or age level.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents.
Maintains proficiency in classroom technology and Google applications and adapts to new digital tools as they are introduced.
Demonstrated organizational skills.
Strong classroom management skills.
