The Assistant Director of Admissions supports the execution of the admissions cycle by managing prospective student engagement, application logistics, audition coordination, and event operations. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, comfort with data and CRM systems (Slate), and a strong ability to communicate effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders. The Assistant Director ensures an excellent experience for prospective students and applicants while advancing Curtis’s mission of accessibility and artistic excellence.

- Essential Functions
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Prospective Student Engagement & Events
- Coordinate and manage in-person and virtual recruitment events (e.g., college fairs, info sessions, etc.), campus tours, and accepted student programming.
- Serve as primary logistics lead for admissions-related events including audition days, Accepted Students Day, and campus visits.
- Manage and train Admissions Ambassadors for student-led tours, event support (including auditions), and communication assistance.
- Coordinate prospective student visits and informational lessons with faculty, including studio-specific audition events.
- Support student-led outreach initiatives in collaboration with the Career Studies department (e.g., Pathway partnerships, local music program visits).
Admissions Communications & Content
- Respond to prospective student and applicant inquiries via email and phone; provide guidance on application and audition processes.
- Draft and manage admissions-related communications including drip campaigns, call-to-action emails, and event invitations.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to support admissions content (brochures, webpages, social media, etc.).
Audition & Application Operations
- Manage audition scheduling and logistics in coordination with faculty, facilities, and piano staff.
- Serve as the day-of logistics lead during live auditions, including signage, hospitality, and faculty support.
- Support prescreening review coordination and materials routing in Slate.
- Maintain accurate documentation and communications related to pre-screening, audition invitations, and results.
CRM & Data Systems (Slate)
- Build and manage events, communications, and form-based workflows in Slate to support recruitment and audition operations.
- Maintain and update Slate portals for prospective students, faculty, and staff reviewers.
- Assist with the configuration of prescreening and audition review tools in Slate Reader.
- Create and maintain queries for reporting, communications, and event tracking.
- Provide Slate technical support to internal and external stakeholders.
Operational Support
- Provide day-to-day operational support for the Admissions Office, especially during peak seasons.
- Support travel coordination and logistics for recruitment events and conferences.
- Collaborate with faculty and institutional partners to ensure smooth execution of all admissions-related milestones.
- Develop and implement quality improvement practices and processes in all areas of admissions operations.
- Preferred Experience and Qualifications

Education/
Experience:- 2–4 years of experience in admissions, higher education, or event coordination/project management.
- Experience with Slate required; expertise with Microsoft Outlook, Office, and Excel strongly preferred.
- Background in music or performing arts is essential.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and editing skills.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
- Capacity to balance competing priorities, manage time effectively, and thrive during high-volume periods.
- Interest and experience developing new systems for project management to increase efficiency within cross-departmental work.
