Overview
POSITION SUMMARY: A Driver – CDL (A) is responsible for safely operating a heavy commercial truck, a tractor trailer or a straight truck with a pup trailer, or other vehicle requiring a class A CDL, to provide prompt and courteous delivery and removal of large containers. The Driver - CDL (A) ensures the vehicle is in compliance with the Company’s safety standards prior to operation, adheres to all Company, state and federal regulations, and completes vehicle condition reports (VCRs) daily to ensure timely repairs of any vehicle defects.
Responsibilities- Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspections of the vehicle to ensure tires, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are in proper working order; report any safety issues on standard reports.
- Safely operate the heavy truck along designated routes and to disposal sites; read route sheets, follow maps, and service each customer as identified or assigned by the dispatcher or supervisor.
- Operate manual and/or automatic controls to lift and load refuse, operate the compactor, and dispose of material at designated facilities in accordance with safety policies.
- Interact courteously with customers, dispatchers, and others to ensure routes are serviced promptly and professionally.
- Perform minor repairs to containers on site or in the container yard.
- Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers per departmental procedures.
- Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable material.
- Clean areas around accidental waste spills following applicable safety standards.
- Maintain the vehicle in an operationally ready condition to minimize downtime and keep containers clean on each disposal trip.
- Complete required route/productivity sheets, VCRs, and other reports as required.
- Maintain adherence to productivity standards to ensure timely and efficient customer service.
- Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in the Company’s ReSOP program.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

- Good time management skills to complete responsibilities efficiently and safely.
- Strong follow-through ability; adheres to work schedules and addresses challenges as they arise.

- Two years of prior experience driving commercial trucks preferred.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude to perform minor container repairs.
- Class A Commercial Driver’s license with air brakes endorsement.
