Scottsdale Aquatics is looking for lifeguards and swim instructors who can stay alert while bringing confidence, energy, and heart to the pool deck. In this role, you’ll supervise and instruct swimmers of all ages in both swimming and diving activities, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment. You may also rotate through occasional cashier duties to support daily operations.

• Supervise swimmers of all ages in swimming and diving activities to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
• Instruct swimming and diving skills as a lifeguard/swim instructor.
• Rotate through occasional cashier duties to support daily operations.

• Required age: at least 15 years old at time of hire.
• Certification requirements for lifeguards/instructors as specified below:
• Lifeguard certifications may include Star Guard Lifeguard Certification or American Red Cross Lifeguard Training/First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.
• Instructors must possess a current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification or Starfish Swim Instructor certification, plus relevant lifeguard certifications at time of hire.
• Proof of current certifications or enrollment in Star Guard Lifeguard Certification must be shown at interview time, where applicable.
• Applicants without a current lifeguard certification must complete the Star Guard Lifeguard Certification course offered by the City of Scottsdale.
• Prior to employment, residency in Arizona is required during active employment per City policy.

The starting rate of pay is $17.70 per hour; additional compensation may be offered depending on years of experience. Anticipated starting salary may be up to mid-point depending on experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above, and the mid-point for this position is $20.80/hour.

Work schedules vary and typically require some evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Education requirements:

No formal education or experience are required for this position. Applicants must be at least 15 years old at the time of hire. A post-offer, pre-employment background screening may be required (including fingerprinting and background checks as applicable).

• Lifeguard must possess current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training/First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certifications or current Star Guard Lifeguard Certification at time of hire.
• Instructor must possess a current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification or Starfish Swim Instructor certification, plus required lifeguard certifications at time of hire.
• Proof of current certifications or enrollment in Star Guard Lifeguard Certification must be shown at interview.
• All City employees must reside in Arizona during active employment.
