Building Repair Technician

Overview

Repair Technician – Mayo Clinic, Gilbert, AZ. This role maintains and repairs building finishes and furniture, supporting patient care environments.

• Paint and finish all painted surfaces inside and outside.
• Maintain building interiors: flooring, carpet, walls, ceilings, wall coverage.
• Assemble, disassemble, transport, and install non‑medical equipment and systems furniture.
• Relocate freestanding furniture (desks, file cabinets, chairs, ergonomic equipment).
• Perform field repairs on all types of furniture.
• Mount wall‑hung items: pictures, shelving, signage, maps, monitors, bulletin boards.
• Provide related services to department managers.
• Use power tools and equipment efficiently.
• Coordinate work with other staff and contractors.
• Use CMMS software to receive, track, and close work orders; maintain documentation and logs to meet JCAHO, federal and state requirements.
• Drive a Mayo Clinic vehicle as needed.

• High School Diploma/GED required; associate degree preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of general building troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.
• Demonstrated computer and tablet use.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Effective team collaborator with contractors and vendors.
• Strong oral and written communication in English.
• Self‑starter, initiative, escalation as needed.
• Excellent user communication for furniture components and layouts.
• Physical ability: stand and stoop long periods; lift up to 80 pounds.
• Valid Arizona driver’s license and satisfactory motor vehicle record.

• Building finishes, repair, and installation (painting, flooring, wallpaper, tile, stucco, acoustical ceilings).
• Systems furniture installation/modification (Herman Miller, Steelcase).
• Vocational/technical trade training.

Hourly: $20.06 – $27.70 / hour. Education, experience, and tenure considered. Benefits eligible:

Full‑time, Monday‑Thursday; 6 am–4 30 pm. 80 hours per pay period.
