Mountain View Surgery Center of Scottsdale is hiring a OR Circulator RN, PRN.

Under the general supervision of the Clinical Director and Clinical Manager, this position provides nursing care to ensure the safety of the patient during their procedure in the surgical suite or procedure room. This position also accompanies and monitors the patient as he or she transfers from PreOP to OR to PACU.

• Direct and assist in carrying out safe aseptic techniques and procedures
• Supervise and direct the activities of surgical technician and supporting personnel as necessary
• Perform assessments of patients for specific nursing care needs
• Check room for needed supplies and prepare room for specific patient and procedure
• Assist in transporting patients to operating room/procedure room and check patient record for appropriate pre‑op preparation and procedures (e.g., lab, x‑ray, appropriate permits)
• Perform clean up following procedures, as well as general housekeeping duties
• Set up operating room/procedure room with all necessary equipment and supplies
• Participate in on‑going committees and other educational programs to enhance patient care
• Review physicians’ preference cards and update as needed
• Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts and document same as applicable
• Maintain sterile field throughout the surgical procedure
• Show general familiarity of medical terminology as it pertains to anatomy and surgical procedures for an operating room
• Have strong communication skills and ability to promote departmental relationships to ensure continuity of care
• Handle instruments correctly and check for cleanliness and proper working condition
• Function efficiently as a member of surgical/procedural team

• The Circulating Registered Nurse must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and be currently licensed to practice nursing in the state.
• 2 years of experience in the operating room is preferred; experience in circling total joint, spine, or other orthopedics is helpful.
• Ability to work independently as well as function within a team; assess patient needs, determine priorities, plan and direct care for the surgical patient, and handle stress.
• BLS/ACLS required.
• Ability to maintain sterile field throughout procedures.
• Strong communication skills and ability to promote departmental relationships.
• Ability to handle instruments correctly and check for cleanliness and proper working condition.
• Capability to function efficiently as a member of the surgical/procedural team.
