Job Description & How to Apply Below

If you’re a seasoned OR leader who thrives in high-volume, high-acuity environments, this is your opportunity to step into a pivotal leadership role overseeing a 14-suite Main OR serving both adult and pediatric populations. Join a well-established, independent community hospital in sunny Southern Arizona—where innovation meets collaboration, and your leadership will directly shape surgical excellence.

This is not a small specialty OR or surgery center. This is a dynamic, 24/7 surgical environment with complex cases, cutting‑edge technology (including robotics and endovascular suites), and a team of approximately 80 FTEs who rely on strong, experienced leadership to keep operations running seamlessly.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and inspire a large, diverse perioperative team in a 24/7, high‑acuity Main OR environment.
  • Oversee staffing operations, including acuity‑based planning and daily shift grid management to ensure safe, efficient care delivery.
  • Partner with surgical services leadership to support physician engagement and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Manage performance, coach staff, and cultivate emerging leaders and preceptors within the department.
  • Monitor productivity, patient flow, and quality outcomes, making proactive adjustments to optimize operations.
  • Support budget oversight and resource stewardship while maintaining exceptional standards of care.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and foster a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Drive educational initiatives and professional development opportunities to elevate team performance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required.
  • Active RN license in Arizona (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant nursing experience with demonstrated mastery in acute care.
  • At least 2 years of OR nursing leadership experience in a high‑volume, similarly sized acute care hospital setting.
  • Proven ability to lead large teams (experience overseeing ~80 FTEs strongly preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal, operational, and physician collaboration skills.
About the Hospital
  • Independent, community-based acute care hospital serving Southern Arizona.
  • 14-suite Main OR including endovascular, open heart, robotic, pediatric, and specialty surgical rooms.
  • Full spectrum of surgical services including general (adult & peds), ENT, urology, vascular, thoracic, cardiac, ophthalmology, podiatry, and oral surgery.
  • 24/7 OR and PACU coverage with structured pre‑op and on‑call support.
  • Approximately 80 FTEs within the Main OR.
  • Employee‑focused culture with strong benefits and an onsite fitness center.
  • Leadership incentive program with potential performance‑based earnings.
  • Competitive compensation based on experience and internal equity.
  • Relocation assistance available.
  • Management Incentive Plan (target up to 10% of annual earned compensation).
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Retirement savings options.
  • Generous paid time off.
  • Onsite employee gym and local employee perks.
  • Supportive leadership structure and growth opportunities within surgical services.
Living in Southern Arizona
  • Over 300 days of sunshine each year.
  • Stunning desert landscapes with mountain backdrops and endless hiking and biking trails.
  • Affordable cost of living compared to many major metropolitan areas.
  • Vibrant food scene and rich cultural heritage.
  • Close proximity to national parks and weekend getaway destinations.
  • Ideal for those who love outdoor adventure, warm weather, and wide‑open space.

If you’re ready to bring your high-volume OR leadership experience to a fast‑paced, mission‑driven surgical team, we’d love to connect. Apply today to learn more about how you can make an impact in this exceptional perioperative setting.
