Role Overview
As the Research Manager, you will lead a critical function of Darwin responsible for our syndicated and custom research and our proprietary recruitment. You will be responsible for formalizing the workflows that enable us to access executive level health care stakeholders (C-Suite, Pharmacy Directors, Clinical, Financial, and Operational Leaders) and ensuring these insights are seamlessly integrated into our products. You will also be responsible for executing end-to-end syndicated and custom market research and supporting company marketing initiatives.
You will manage a dedicated team of 2–5 team members, overseeing the end-to-end lifecycle of qualitative and quantitative projects while building the SOPs that will scale our recruitment and reporting capabilities.
Key Responsibilities1. Recruitment Strategy & Panel Management
- Formalize Recruitment: Design and document SOPs for targeting, recruiting, and scheduling executive level IDN and health care stakeholders for IDIs and surveys.
- Panel Growth: Oversee the health and expansion of our executive panel, ensuring a robust pipeline of C-Suite and cross-functional health care leaders.
- Quality Control: Establish vetting protocols to ensure all participants meet the stringent requirements of pharmaceutical market research.
- Project Oversight: Manage the execution of custom qualitative and quantitative projects from kickoff to final delivery.
- Content Excellence: Oversee the creation of syndicated reports on the IDN, Oncology, VA/Federal, and broader health care landscapes.
- Moderation & Analysis: Lead or supervise 1:1 interviews; ensure insights are synthesized into high-impact, actionable narratives for pharmaceutical clients.
- Direct Management: Manage a team of 2–3 individuals responsible for recruitment, interviewing, and report writing.
- Quality Assurance & Final Review: Serve as the primary editor and final quality check for all custom and syndicated reports produced by your team, ensuring that insights are relevant, actionable, and accurate, and meet the high standards of pharmaceutical clients before delivery.
- Mentorship: Provide hands-on coaching to early-career staff on research methodology, professional communication with health care leaders, and insight extraction.
- Performance: Conduct professional development reviews and career pathing for your direct reports.
- Workflow Optimization: Partner with the Ops Team and Research Director to develop and integrate recruitment workflows into the broader company production schedule.
- Resource Management: Ensure syndicated and custom projects are delivered on time and within scope while maintaining the highest quality standards.
- Website & Digital Presence: Manage website updates to ensure our profile library and service offerings are accurately and compellingly represented.
- Content Strategy: Oversee the amplification of our research via Linked In and other professional platforms to position Darwin as an authority on IDN and health care intelligence.
- Event Strategy: Identify key industry conferences and leaders for the Sales team and CEO to engage with, ensuring our presence at the most influential industry events.
- Thought Leadership & Podcast: Identify and secure IDN and health care thought leaders for the CEO to interview on the company podcast; repurpose these insights into marketing briefs and/or white papers.
- Experience: 5+ years in market research and recruiting, consulting, or health care intelligence. Experience in the pharmaceutical or IDN space is highly preferred.
- Leadership: Proven experience managing teams and a desire to mentor early-career professionals.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Comfortable interacting with healthcare C-suite and cross-functional leaders; ability to effectively engage IDN and health care leaders.
- Process-Driven: A track record of building SOPs or formalizing previously informal workflows.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience leveraging CRM or recruitment management platforms (e.g., or Direct Mail) to track outreach, manage stakeholder relationships, and maintain a clean and functional database of panel participants.
- Communication: Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to turn raw interview data into strategic insights.
